2.Bioanalytical Chemistry

  • 2.1 Plant hormones
    Plant hormones, the trace signaling molecules in plants, play important roles on the regulation of plant growth and development as well as respond to environmental stresses. We are committed to the development of highly sensitive, high-throughput and rapid analytical methods for the determination and profiling of plant hormones. The research further extends to the investigation of the biological functions of plant hormones.

  • 2.2 Metabolomics
    We develop mass spectrometry-based analytical methods for metabolomics study, with more focus on stable isotope labeling coupled with mass spectrometry analysis strategy. We explore the physiological function of endogenous metabolites in pathogenesis and search new valuable biomarkers for diseases diagnosis.

  • 2.3 Biomolecules modifications
    2.3.1 DNA/RNA methylation and demethylation 

    DNA/RNA methylation is reversible and involved in diverse physiological functions, including maintenance of chromosomal integrity, X-chromosome inactivation, and transcriptional suppression of genes. By establishing various analytical methods, we explore the biological functions of epigenetic modifications of DNA/RNA and investigate the correlation between endogenous metabolites and epigenetic modifications.

    2.3.2 Protein post-translational modifications 
    Protein post-translational modifications play crucial roles in physiological functions of organism. We are committed to the development of new materials and methods for the study of protein post-translational modifications, especially on protein phosphorylation and glycosylation. We further investigate the functions of protein post-translational modifications on pathogenesis.

  • 2.4 Analytical methods for food safety
    We develop sensitive, convenient and rapid analytical methods and techniques for foodomics and food safety analysis.
